Martyn Randle

Martyn Randle was the Senior Engineer in the Vehicle Security Department of Thatcham The Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre. He was the longest serving member of the Department having joined the department at its formation in 1993 until his retirement in 2012.


He represented Thatcham on the following organisations and working groups:


  • ACPO ITS Uniformed Operations Working Group

  • AVCIS Governance Board

  • British Machine Insurance Association

  • Construction Industry Theft Solutions

  • EC Forum on Access to Vehicle Information (Assistant Secretary)

  • Plant Theft Action Group

  • South West Region Vehicle Crime Meetings

  • Vehicle Security Diagnostic Group

  • Vehicle Security Steering Group (Chairman)

  • Vehicle Security Steering Group Plant (Chairman)


Responsibilities included creation, implementation and revision of Security Projects and criteria for the testing and evaluation of electronic, mechanical and telemetric Vehicle security systems (OEM and After-Market) for Cars, Vans, commercial vehicles, construction plant and agricultural machinery.


Working with Mike this resulted in the number of stolen vehicles and equipment decreasing. 

With the Martyn joining the team at VSST/TASSA we will be a stronger force to maintain and write standards and assist all that need solutions to vehicle theft and vehicle enabled crime issues we all face.
